The Foundation
Millennials want meals that taste homemade and impressive, but they don't always have the time, ingredients, or culinary confidence to get there. They need a shortcut that feels earned, not lazy.
The Insight
Millennial home cooks are ambitious but time-poor. They know what a great meal should taste like, but the gap between what they imagine and what they can actually pull off is real. They don't need a chef, they need a hero in their corner.
The Big Idea
We turned Trader Joe's Everything But The Bagel seasoning into a fully realized superhero character, The Savory Savior, who swoops in to rescue bland meals with a "Flavor Blast." The campaign frames EBTB not as a seasoning, but as the secret weapon every kitchen deserves.
The Character
Origin Story
The Savory Savior is the EBTB jar brought to life: masked, caped, and armed with a Flavor Blaster that fires seasoning at anything remotely bland. He appears wherever food needs rescuing, in print, on city walls, in AR, and at live activations.
His tagline: "From Sub-Par to Super." His mission: no bland meal gets left behind.
Print Ads
Each print ad drops The Savory Savior into a different context, comic book origin, battle scene, city takeover, all unified by bold comic-panel art direction and the campaign tagline.
Experiential & AR
A larger-than-life Savory Savior takes over the city, bringing the campaign to life through a giant character installation, AR filter experiences, and interactive sampling activations at rooftop venues.
The AR Experience
The AR filter, accessible via QR code at activation points, drops The Savory Savior into any environment and fires a Flavor Blast at the camera. Shareable, on-brand, and built to spread organically across social.
Each scan unlocks a "Flavor Blast" moment designed to be posted, driving organic reach at every touchpoint of the rooftop activation.
Merch
A limited-edition mini Trader Joe's tote bag, available in-store, featuring the custom Savory Savior illustration pattern. The bag turns the campaign into something fans actually want to carry, extending the life of the character beyond the ad.
